Whiten Your Teeth With Ingredients in Your Kitchen

Pearly White teeth comes with an extra confidence boost and reason to smile. The teeth are one of the most noticeable features of a person.

Not everyone is born with naturally white teeth. Discoloration in dentition can be caused by different factors, ranging from poor dental hygiene, enamel thinning , underlying health conditions, excessive consumption of certain beverages, smoking, to hereditary factors.

The good news is that yellowing and discoloration of the teeth can be reversed with simple remedies.

Some ingredients around your kitchen can be beneficial when trying to whiten the teeth. For individuals who cook with wood chips, charcoal is effective in teeth whitening.

Charcoal is a porous black residual of burnt wood or bones. For teeth whitening, charcoal gotten from wood is ideal. You don’t need to mix charcoal with any kind of polish. Directly scrubbing the enamel of your teeth with charcoal will give an impressive outcome.

Chewing Stick

Nothing beats the chewing stick when it gets to natural teeth whitening agents. The chewing sticks often referred to in some parts of Africa as the toothbrush tree has antimicrobial properties that benefits the overall oral hygiene.

In a paper published in the North American Journal of Medical Science, “Comparative Effectiveness of Chewing Stick and Toothbrush: A Randomized Clinical Trial”. It was revealed that the chewing stick had greater mechanical and chemical cleaning power than the toothbrush.

Tumeric

This is one of the most common spices found in every kitchen. Tumeric has been used in many dishes, especially delicacies from Africa, Asia and South America. Tumeric acts as a cleaning agent for the gums, removing impurities. When mixed with coconut oil, Tumeric removes stains from the teeth and inner jaw. The spice originates from the ginger family and it is slightly abrasive and has anti inflammatory properties which is beneficial for oral hygiene.

Lemon juice/peeling

Lemon is rich in citric acids. When the lemon peels or extracts are applied to the teeth, it acts as a bleaching agent. Using lemon peels and extracts on the teeth over time will remove surface stains, leaving the teeth looking brighter.

The best way however to whiten your teeth is to prevent staining before they happen. Maintaining good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth regularly and having regular dental checkups will help prevent discoloration.
